RAM upgrade for Mac

Hello,

I have a 1.33 GHz iBook that currently has 756 mb of RAM. I would like to upgrade and get more RAM, but I don't really want to pay the really high prices that Apple charges directly from their website. Does anybody know of another place to get good quality RAM that will work well in the iBook and that is a little cheaper than Apple's? Even some place selling used Apple-Certified RAM would be fine. I want to get a 1 gig RAM stick, and will have a 512 mb stick to trade in (I don't know if any place does trades or not) or sell. THanks very much!

You could try http://www.crucial.com

Not necessarily the cheapest but they have a good reputation. RAM from Apple is such a ripoff!

I didn't have good luck with newegg on my Powerbook. I think my model (G4 1.25 15") was just really picky tho. I ended up getting a Samsung chip which is supposedly what Apple uses for their upgrades anyway.

i used to go 18004memory.com, but lately they've been crap.

slow & bad customer service, doesn't send RAM buyback checks, and warranty returns sent me 3 bad RAM chips. (in a row)

move this to moan zone if needs be.

crucial is good. i got my G5 RAM from Mac Solutions. lifetime warranty, never had to return, and cheapeset at the time (Jan '05).

Thanks guys - that is awesome! I have heard a rumor in the past that sometimes non-apple RAM will not work in a mac, or works intermittently - any truth to this that you know of? ANy particular brand that would work in a late 2004 iBook? Thanks again!
