Asus W3J or Macbook (black)

Need a new laptop - RME FF800 as my interface ... Logic Pro is my prefered DAW, but I might use this opportunity to introduce myself to Nuendo (or something else) .... The black Macbook looks so cool, full spec is £1,500 UK. But I've heard good things about the Asus W3J (full spec, its around £1,500) ... Don't have much experience on Windows/PC's ... but again, this might be an opportunity ... Whatdoyathink guys ?

If you get a Windows PC, all you'll be able to run is Windows... You could get the hacked version of OSX to run on the PC laptop, but it's probably not a good idea.

Going with the Macbook gives you the ability to continue to run Logic natively (which runs AWESOME on the Intel Macs), but also run Windows under BootCamp and get all your Windows DAWs running natively as well. I think the Macbook is a more versatile machine.

Although, you might want to wait (if you can) until the end of next month. There might be more powerful Intel Mac laptops with the new Core2Duo chips in them.

Thumbs up

Macbook! Order 2gb ram (Kingston or Crucail - specially made for macbook and macbook pro) from a 3rd party vendor, and you've got yourself a pretty decent portable daw! I use Metric Halo 2882 with mine (white 2GHz) and it totaly rocks!

I second this suggestion. Wait until the beginning of Q4 and watch prices drop as Revision A or later starts rolling off the assembly line.

On monday apple is going to reveal new models most probably so you should atleast wait until then in my opinion. Other than that I think you should go with the macbook aswell.
