To Bounce, or Not to Bounce?

What are my options other than “bounce to disk” it Pro Tools and why should I not bounce to disk?

create an Audio Track, assing its input to a a stereo (or 5.1) bus that you call 'RECORD' or 'REPRINT' or somthing... then, on your master bus, assing a send to that bus (post fader).

record to disk (RTD) and then highlight the region and shift-apple-k and export it at whatever you need.

reasone to NOT bouce are :

-there have been problems with automation (and even entire regions on really large files) getting lost.
-you can monitor your mix as it goes down (QC!)
-you should be checking the BTD file anyway...RTD, saves this step
-record in destructive mode and you can print the file and if there is an issue, you stop, fix, and punch in...it continues to write to the same file... with BTD, you have to start over
-when working with picture, you watch the mix go down with the video -- can't do that BTD....
