What do you guys think of the new Soundcloud?
I think it's pretty slick looking and in the long run we will all be better for it...
...but a big part of me just doesn't feel like learning a whole new interface

Not a fan, had to threaten my paid account to revert back, hopefully they let people stick with the old.. and im usually open to new things, I have looked up reviews online and its been mostly positive, so maybe I tested too early on in the Beta (earlier in the summer), or im missing something
one thing I do like about the new SC is the unobtrusive nature of comments in the HTML5 player.. those comments drove me nuts sometimes..

I like it, especially that the player is persisted across page loads.
Can't say I'm at the site that often though, so it's not like my everyday worktool has changed.

Some good ideas... But IMO most of us are more interested for improved audio quality for streaming instead of a new look of their page. The sound after (re)encoding is sometimes so horrible with so much artifacts. It's a shame that they don't provide for the premium accounts better audio quality.

The look is new age, but the functionality for music producers sucks!

Yeah, it would be pretty nice if you could choose to keep the old layout. I guess that's all part of progress though...
the persistent player is DEFINITELY a big improvement, I hate when I accidentally miss the end of a song because I close a tab
and I totally agree 4damind, they should really work on that instead. such a pain to retweak and reupload a track just to deal with their reencoding

I'd really appreciate it if they would move the "o" back to the end of my name |

Just checked it out. It will take some getting used to, but I think I'll end up liking better than the old version. The real test for me will be how stable it is on my ipad, because the old site was horrendously unstable.

Looks good to me. What bothered me most with the old version was the "Incoming Tracks" section that looked really messy, but now it looks clean to me.

I'm really digging this.
Definitely like it better.
Now, to actually get some fans.

I think it's a step up, it's enhanced social features should help. I'm digging the new waveform viewer, I hate the way tracks with lots of comments behave on the old one.
Like a lot of sites, I think the UI elements are spread out a bit much. I'm not 80, I don't need 256px buttons and 24pt font!

This same thing happens when Facebook changes something. Big uproar for a couple days then everyone moves on with their lives...

Still using the old page just for the mini stats. More informative for me than the new ultra-ministats that only show yesterday/today listens. The full stats are too much.
I have 50 songs, so it takes a bit of loading and scrolling to get to the bottom, which I don't think is a good thing for my listeners. It was easier to get to older songs before by just clicking the page links.
Otherwise it looks better. Dynamic parts flicker on Safari tho.

I tried the "new site" and then reverted back.
I have my albums listed on the side, along with links and notes on those links. the new look doesn't allow for this space. I only use soundcloud to upload remixes and podcasts. I hope to connect people to my bandcamp page from there. So yeah, not having the ability to really spread my links out and descriptions of each really defeats (partly) why i use it. hopefully it wont be like facebook where they just make the change automatic after a while.
any other thoughts on this? people feeling limited by the iput space / links section?

yeah the more i play with it the more i love / hate it.
the whole look is slick, but annoying.
has anyone tried the "repost" feature? it'd be a cool way to spread tunes you like, but it ends up going to the front of your page...why would you want someone else's tracks alongside yours and vice/versa? doesn't that end up confusing the listener?

where are dropbox's ? Can't find them
plus, I shared some tracks exclusively with some labels (1 track 1 label) a couple of days ago, using the old interface...now I can't see it anymore. I have to clik on my track, then 'edit', then I can see "share with ...X"
maybe i need some time

The interface is great, but there seem to be a problem with the player now.. Mine keeps stopping in the middle of tracks.

on the one hand i like that they offer this, but on the other hand I find it crippling to the medium as a whole.
i think it's incredibly important for you to know how people who stumble across your page are going to be viewing it, and the fact that two wildly different formats exist, both in form and function, is troubling.
i think the best move would be to get used to and master the new version.
@jrbrugger i've been having player problems as well, i think it's the server load on their end with the switch
@Jay I'm not sure, it does seem that certain things of that are stuck between transitions

I reverted back because the new format is geared towards consumers rather than creators: 'Who to follow' now features established artists rather than fellow Soundcloud users from the grassroots community who made the site such a pleasure to use.
There are no links to groups, tracks cannot be FF/REW, need to click on track to see comments, change in profile control, no Spotlight, IMO it still Beta (crashed yesterday...also lack of other functions)...The menu features offered remind me of Ya*hoo - I hope Soundcloud doesn't do a MySp*ce.
Around 90% of comments I read (many from paying customers) mention switching back and that the only benefit is that the track continues to play whilst browsing new pages. The 10% who like the change do not appear to be subscribers.
Like a few other sites/W8, this change seems to be geared towards mobile apps rather than desktop creators/publishers. Call me cynical but doesn't this change make Soundcloud ripe for takeover?

it looks okay but I have a huge problem with the lack of a proper spotlight page, specially with the way sets are displayed as a single wave form and with no track listing
I started a petition about it although I doubt it'll do anything http://www.change.org/petitions/soun...new-soundcloud |

It was fine how it was, I don't see any improvements that I prefer. I liked the old design better.
