| MPD24 Install Solution (Vista/Win8 tested)
Just sharing my crappy experience installing my MPD24 on both Vista SP2 and Win 8. Updating the firmware to 1.09 did not seem to help, so I tried a bunch of things until I came up with the steps below. When I recently upgraded to Win 8, I ran into a similar set of issues.
You are basically manually searching for drivers, Windows seems to be unable to auto-detect the drivers for this device, and there are not any available on Akai's website. Please add any additional versions/ alternate solutions.
My PC is a Vaio VGN-NR498E laptop, not sure if that is the source of my problem, Akai customer support and message boards had very little info on this problem.
**Disconnect any Logitech devices if the following steps do not work and then try again.**
Vista Sp2 32 bit
-Plug in
-Let Windows search for drivers
-When it asks for a disc, click on other options
-Search "C:" (or system boot drive) for drivers
-If it finds anything, it will say it's unverified, install anyway
-It should install as "USB Audio Device", and it will say, "Akai MPD24 installed okay."
Windows 8 32 bit
-Plug in. Nothing will pop up, but you should hear a sound when you connect
-In the Control Panel, click "View Devices & Printers" under "Hardware & Sound"
-Right click on AkaiMPD24, click Properties
-Click "Manually Add A Device"
-Click Hardware tab
-Click Properties button located below Device Function Summary
-On default General tab, click "Change Settings" button
-On default general tab, click "Update Driver"
-Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
-Search "C:" for drivers
-With any luck, it should successfully update as "USB Audio Device", but will be recognized as an MPD24
Once installed, it should run fine with Logitech devices connected.
