Omnisphere synth pads v roland jd990

Hi,
I'm wanting to buy possibly omnisphere but just want to check I can get some great synth pad/synth strings in the roland jd990 vein.....
I'm producing pop/rock and modern rock so looking for sounds in that area.... Hope someone can chip in........

i own omnisphere and it's great + you get alot of godies ....don(t know about the roland ...now for string /pad analoguish def check :

UHE Diva and Virtual String machine Gforce ...Absynth and fm8 can be great also ...

the 990 is a cool box, no doubt, but Omnisphere is a universe ahead of the 990. No contest IMO.

yep of course ...the thing is do he need it ? anyway be sure to grab the Moog tribute stuff if you go Omnisphere ...

i also grabbed trilian for only synths and i found sounds crazy (diiging that John Carpenter Newyork 1997 (escape from newyork)type of sounds)

+1 for Omnisphere.

I owned a JD990 with the Vintage Synth expansion for years and it was my go to synth for pads. But I could never quite get it to achieve the warm, lush string pad sound like you can get from the likes of the Roland JX10 or even JX8P. Maybe that's due to inferior programming skills but Omnisphere gives me that warm lush sound out of the box.

But the JD990 is still a unique and special box. If I had to choose one, I'd go with Omnisphere (which I did). Although I'm still pining for my old 990.

when i read your post i saw the term "lush " and it reminded me the D16 new synth that is excellent : D16 Group Audio Software - Beyond Perfection - LuSH-101
