Question for you Lynx AES and Aurora users

I am currently using a 2010 mac pro with dual 2.4 processors and 16GB of ram for my tracking. I am using two AES16e cards with 2 aurora 16's. I am thinking of repurposing that machine for mixing tasks only and replacing it with a lesser machine.

My question is how old of a machine can i get and still expect to run two aes16e's and 2 aurora 16s at 96k without problems. The machine would really be just for tracking and overdubs. I dont mind higher buffer rates as i use the lynx mixer for my monitoring.

Let me know what you guys are running with success with a similar setups.

Oh, and if you guys think i should be going the other way....lesser machine for mixing, let me know.

Thanks,

jB

These cards have been in the field for many, many years, working over a span of computers and OS's, so I think you'll be find to "downgrade", and continue to use them. However working at 96K requires more DSP, so its hard to guess on the old machine/OS as a system.
