Update seems to run fine here on Snow Leopard. Haven't beat anything up, but opened several existing projects and they all seem fine. CPU meter seems to run slightly lower than I remembered.

Everything seemed to be good here too at the beginning. An old project behaved as it should but when I began a new project and started adding plugs for mixing, the lagging was back. When I added VTM on a mixbus I had to wait up to 30 sec to get Logic to answer to inputs from mouse and kb. :(
I use Bluetooth kb and mouse. Could that have something to do with it?

Probably. I haven't experienced anything like that here. Try a wired kb and mouse and see if its better.

That's probably the biggest limitation of Logic right now. | Yea you right, logic overload simply by selecting tracks, because of that live track mix engine thingy.

Can anyone else confirm this? I wasn't really paying attention or running taxing session today...
| Yep - I'm seeing this.
Also 9.17 wasn't working at all for me in SL - this is working a treat, feels solid.

anyone else notice the application is much smaller? 9.1.8 shows as 270 where as 9.1.7 is 789mb??
very strange - or this just on my crazy system?
Anyway - working all day in logic here, including running off some stems from pretty big mixes and every seems great - much, much more solid than previous version. I'm on ML 10.8.2, late 2008 8 core MP.

FWIW... I purchased Logic from the App Store.

9.1.8: 518.4 MB on disk (482,516,271 bytes)
9.1.7: 518.3 MB on disk (482,496,016 bytes)
On 2007 MBP, 10.6.8.
Funny how we see wildly different info about our installations...

Update was probably put together by the concierge of the department where Logic was once made. He found the source code and cleaned it up a bit... Logic is dead afaiac. Never been let down by a computer company this much!

I'm speechless.. They have the resources and the $$ but they're purposely holding back the Mac Pro and Logic for god know what reason.. It's beyond me If Avid updates PT to 64 bit I'm all in. I rather pay 600$+ updates to a company that is dedicated to Pro..

Why is Apple lacking so much?
What does it take for the community to be taken serious?
Yes I like the new iMac and iPhone etc. but Apple got their with the strong loyal support from the old user base.
We hyped Apple to become the biggest company in the world and still we're waiting the longest in line for Logic Pro X to show up.
We have no rights I know that but it doesn't sound fair no matter how you look at it. All I wan't is for Apple to say something. 3 words is better than the absolute damn silence.
We need a serious petition and plan of action guys. |

Reading alle those comments one might get the impression that it is impossible to get your work done in Logic 9...
It's still a trustful and great working environment to me.

PT9 was lacking key features like the "software-monitoring"-OFF button which made it completely unusable for people with analog desks or soundcards with zero-latency FX / mixers, so they released ProTools 10 a few months later, made the people pay a load of money to get simple features that should've been in PT9 from the start or at least a free update. It's still ridiculous: Now we get to deactivate software monitoring, but only for ONE stereo output - and all plugins are deactivated even when not recording. Legit huh?
I can't believe people are actually complaining about an update that fixes stuff. Logic 9 has *zero* issues for me at the moment, and I am still on 9.1.7 as of now. PT9 and 10 however... let's just say it is a PITA and has weird bugs that max out all my cores with only 2 plugins opened. Here's a nice list of LP9 updates: Apple Logic X rumours
Now show me the list of ProTools 9 updates and the update which fixed the missing key-features. Oh wait.
So you'd rather pay a lot of money for redundant or mandatory updates on non-working software, than get good support for a well working DAW? Right.

There's definitely room for improvement, but I totally agree. If it NEVER updated again, it would still be a great app.

The thing costs, what, $100 now? You can't expect a lot of motivated development intensity at that price.

Love Logic, i use it all day, every day. Embarassing that it took this long to function with Mountain Lion, but, onwards and upwards! Reports are suggesting that CPU usage is slightly improved too.

What do you need in order to use Logic?
I bought my first Apple (Powerbook G4) because I wanted Logic.
