PT 7.1+Music toolKit +Macbook Pro = Unshakeable

Incredible - coming from PC - but able to use both systems for various reasons is very convenient. Upgraded to 7.1 and decided to get the Music Production Toolkit. I can now have the same editing capabilities in my home studio or on the road which is a tweakers dream.

Although it took some updating the Macbook pro is really all that. Fast and reliable with a terrific big screen (17").

Just wanted to pass this along for anyone thinking of heading down the same road.

AFIK very few 3rd party PI work on Intels as of yet, Melodyne, Autotune, Pitch N time, Speed, Vocalign, all critical editing tools.

Sure - currently on the mac side. But some of those tools I own and they work PERFECTLY on the windows side. Very little hassle in switching over to pitch correct on melodyne or any other stand alone program. Save file and open on Mac side if you prefer. Mixing on the mac side still is waiting on software updating - but editing away from your studio is brilliant on this machine and until the updates come I'll probably mix on the windows side when needed. Protools key commands are very similar in both OS.

Music Production Toolkit

Hey guys sorry to divert im looking to buy Music Production Toolkit kit in a few weeks. I using a G4 Dual 1.25GHz processor with 2GB ram. Im going to be recording a concert (on a HD rig) with a track count of 40-48. Do you think my computer will be able to handle it when I bring it back to the LE session? Saying that the biggest session I have done on Pro Tools Le is 32 tracks with 16-18 plug-in (waves and digidesign) and thats when I had a 1GB of ram.

if you have a good hard drive the track count should not introduce any problems. but if you will be using a lot of plugins you will most likely need to bounce to stems and inactivate tracks to free up DSP power.

Music Production Toolkit

I bought the music production toolkit two weeks ago. Really I shouldnt have to paid over £300 for some of the basic features that came with it (48 tracks, MP3 converter - which I had already bought last year).
Anways im using a G4 Dual 1.25GHz 2GB ram (mirror doors), and I own a Digi 002 rack. My friend let me a few files from a project that he did on a HD system at 44.1KHz 24 bit (track count 54). My computer played it back fine but not playing tracks 49-54. I applied a EQ on all of the active channels (48) plus using a few waves reverbs and the CPU meter was peaking at about 55-60%. I then tested a session at 48KHz 24 bit (48 tracks) 48 EQ's and two reverbs (waves). CPU meter 65-70%. Then I tried a session at 96KHz 24 bit (48 tracks) I was able to run the session without any plug-ins but when I tried to add some I got to about 8-10 Digidesign plug-ins and the computer would cry out that it did not have enough CPU usage (fair enough-lol).

i'm awaiting my 002r and i'll be running the same thing, what sort of track count
are you getting with it, before it starts struggling? im not too fussed on the plugin in count as i dont use that plugs that much.
