Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 problems please help!

Hey everybody I'm new here but been making music for 10 yrs and recenlty bought a Scarlett 2i2 replacing the Fast Track Pro I was using and boy was it an upgrade even though it was $100 less. However seems like maybe I should've waited and got the 8i6 or 2i4 because maybe the drivers for those work better?

Here is my problem, I'm running an Asus K53E laptop with a Core i5 2450m and 4gb of RAM on Windows 7 Home (want pro but poor atm). I'm using a legit version of Reason 5/Record 1.5 duo bundle and things were great compared to that fast track pro but that lasted for a month and now Im getting audio drop outs left and right! It happens when mixing,it happens practicing piano it happens just listening to a cd or mp3s! At first it was every other day it would happen and I'd unplug the interface and plug it back in and it worked fine. Now this morning it has stopped working over 20 times since last night rrrrrrrrrr please help I wang to make some beats today but this is killing my creativity...

Thanks, J.Terrible

Win 7 Home should work just fine. I have Win 7 Home 64 bit on my new Desktop PC that I built to run Sonar X2. It is an i7 3770 CPU.

With a laptop, disable the wi-fi and see if that makes a difference. Wi-Fi is a known issue. Run the free DPC latency tester, first with just the basic Laptop and then with the 2i2 connected and see what is happening. If you are getting poor latency or spikes with the basic PC without the 2i2 connected, chances are its something in the PC and not the 2i2.

Strangely enough my buddy gave me some advice that worked! He said it was because I'm using a laptop and that the usb ports aren't designed to power a whole studio lol so I unplug itbfrom the usb 2.0 port and tried out the usb 3.0 port which had my keyboard plugged into and bam! Works like a charm did a full session last night all at 96k and not one drop out!
