Ableton Live 5 ? Anyone?

I used FL studio back in the day and I really liked it....

yeah yeah yeah Fruity Loops sucks this and that, but It's so easy to be creative in FL. I'd go out and buy it if it was on the mac platform, but its not and I'm not making the switch back to windows for it.
So, I'm thinking of getting Ableton Live 5. This would strictly be for my own use not for any proffesional use. I like to make my own samples and sequence them. Then I export each track into Digital Performer and record live instruments and mix.
I won't be using Live's mix engine which I have heard not so good stuff about.

Also I don't really mess with loops too much either. Everything I do is ussually one shot drum hits or chords etc. I'm not sure if Live is what I'm looking for or not. I don't need a full DAW. I'm quite happy with DP. I just would like a mac sequencer thats fun to use. I'm also not looking to blow a lot of money. $500 would definitley be max.

Any suggestions?

they have a free demo that allows you to do everything except Save.

so go download it and see if it meets your needs
