Simple logic question

Sorry, I know the answer probably right in front of me but I can't figure it out. When I record arm a track it defaults to the last volume level that I had the track at and vice versa.

For instance if I arm a track that is at 0 before I armed it and I move to -8 db, once I unarm the track it will default to 0 or wherever I had it before. Once I arm it again, it goes back to -8. How do I get rid of this? I just did a fresh install on a new system, so I don't have all of my old settings.

Thanks in advance.

Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio

Independent Monitoring Level (for Record Enabled Channel Strips) is enabled in the preferences. Disable that tickbox.

Or simply raise the fader from -8 dB to unity when in record mode on that track.
