EAST WEST Sales

Hi,

does anyone know if EWQL do sales often? Im looking to buy some new packages but missed their buy 1 get 1 free sale. Ill either wait for the next one or buy something else, as I cant face paying twice the amount of money i would have a little over a month ago

Thanks

They have those sales all the time, seems like every week. I'd give you all my EastWest Play stuff for free if they allowed transfers.

yeah, like every week they have some sort of used card dealership sale were you always get 70% off. after a while its not a sale... its what it really costs.

its sbout $200-250 per plugin. except for the new hollywood seriess.

its even cheaper if u do the complete composer collection.

Complete Composers Collection HD

i got the hard drive terapack to demo them and figured out thats these are very overrated.. except for the hollywood strings. those are good.

play.. whole other story wiht play. not a good plugin, EW team doesnt want to admit it and a lot of people hold back cause it it.

'thanks for the replies.

Does one have to use play or can they use kontakt?

And if you use kontakt, are you missing out on any features?

That complete composer pack would be good if you could get hollywood strings thrown in too. is there anything else in particular that you guys would recommend? LASS lite, Stirling Albion, or would EWQL through kontakt be just as good?

Thanks

Kontakt is only for the older versions, the newer stuff they got on sale is all on the play engine.

Apart from those libraries mentioned, VSL just came out with the new dimension strings, might wanna add that to the list of stuff to check out.

Check out Albion and 8dio Adagio. Really depends on what you are going for.

Please some advice.

I am considering buying the EWL library before the 15th of october but if I read correctly this would not be a smart move. There are other better libraries to consider.

Cheers for the link.

I didn't think it would be such a tough decision!

Looks like it's going to come down to Spitfire albion, Cinematic Strings or LASS Lite.

I really like the sound of hollywood strings, but I've heard too many bad things about PLAY.

I'd really like something like EWQL Ra too, I don't know if there is an alternative or not though and it's pretty pricey!

Thanks for the feedback. What is the problem with play? How can a company like EWL make plugins with an engine that is obviously not working?

it does work. just not as good as kontakt .

no assignable keyswithcing

not as cpu/memory efficient

not fast loading samples.

you can still load and play the patches. and the GUI is not as convinient.

play is very functional and work fine.EW has come a long way fixing the unstability.

but its the main gripe of most poeple. and everyone prefers kontakt or something better than play, yet the EW team are very defensive about play.

ra is pretty useful. it has a lot of good ethnic patches.

but you can look into individual instruments in 8dio , soundiron and best service.

as for orchestra go for albion. its an amazing deal. it has brass and percusion and winds.
there are a few videos showing a whole song wiht it.

I don't think we get defensive when the statements are fair and true and you have said nothing here that is unfair or untrue.

Kontakt is a full on sampler while Play is only a sample player. Future versions of Play will give the user more control as they are released.

But EW has some great libraries and if you want them, they use the Play engine, so that is the reality
