Burnt Mix sounding like Sh** PLEASE HELP!!!

First of I'm working on a HD2 system with the 96i interface.
The music I mix for the most part is up temp dynamic rock.

My problem is that I can't get my mixes to translate from control room to CD.

For example: I have a mix with around 30 tracks. The music is up-tempo indie rock with hard drums, and some screaming vox. For the most part I have the mix sounding pretty even. I'm not using any mix buss compression, and I'm being very liberal with compression on the individual tracks. I'll do some A/Bing with other mastered audio to see if I'm getting close to the sound I'm looking for. For the most part everything will be sounding good. I'll burn a cd in real time using a Tascame cd burner linked via S/PIDIF. The unit is set to 0.0 db and every once in a while it will clip. After the cd is burnt and finalized I'll go out to my car to see how it sounds. It seems that every time I'm totally taken aback by how flat an compressed the mix sounds. I've originally thought it might be an issue with the CD burner, so I tried to bounce though PT and us itunes and I still got the same outcome. I'm kinda new to using a TDM system, so I'm not sure if I need to change an internal setting or If I'm just doing something totally wrong. I'm not expecting to have my stuff sounding like a pro mastered cd, but comparing from results I've had as an LE system user it seems like something is wrong.

I've read countless articles and tried to change my mixing habits, but It seems like the problem is not the way I mix but in something with the Mix buss. If any one has any info or tips that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks you.

are you saying it sounds better coming out of PT in the control room than on CD? have you listened to the CD in the CR? is your room accurate?

are you using ADC?

also, here is aanother thought....

are you BLASTING your plugs? are there red lights going off all over the place? back your audio down going into a plug-in becasue the signal at that level becomes difficult for the plug-in to reconstruct on output. back evrything down and the mix opens up...THEN, amke up the difference on the master buss to get it close to -.03 dBFS
