| Best sounding Reverb plug ins? How's it going guys. I have Cubase that I record with, but have yet to find a real nice sounding reverb to add to my recordings. Ive apparently got some good stuff like Waves Diamond Bundle, some Sony Stuff and a few other things, and they are just not doing it for me? It seems that everytime I add reverb to something it never gives the recordings any life like it should. Its always either way to much or nothing at all. The only one I ever liked was a Waves reverb that was on a older version of Cubase that I don't have anymore Is it possible to install it with the new Cubase 3.0 version? If not are there any other plug ins that sound realistic to you? Thanks |

| I have Cubase too, so I know what you mean about needing a reverb that doesn't sound like ass. The Altiverb demo floored me, so I got that even though it was a little above budget at the time. SX 3 comes with Roomworks, which is okay on highest quality setting, but is actually more CPU intense than Altiverb. I like the sampled rooms in Altiverb much better too. PS. I have a UAD-1 as well, but never got the Plate 140 'cause there are several Plate IRs with Altiverb. And I prefer the room/hall samples anyway... |

| I use SIR which I love. It's of course all about the samples at that point and the 960L samples from noisevault blow me away. A few months back I mixed a song and used a 960L for the AC GTR, and Vocal. I had to recall the mix a few months later and was floored at how right on the same preset was with the original 960L. In some ways I swear it sounded better. Steve |

| A lot of people are mentioning UAD or PowerCore plug-ins. I don't see you mentioning that you have either UAD or PowerCore (you did mention the Sony stuff, which are available on PowerCore or TDM though). Also you are requesting "life" from the reverb. In that case I will recommend you checking out the IK Multimedia CSR - Classik Studio Reverb, which is a native (VST or AU) plug-in. Very high quality, warmth and width. Lexicon-a-like sound for a fraction of the price on some presets. Very flexible interface and great control unlike convolution reverbs, and far more life due to the modulation possibilities. I like to have full control over dispersion, build-up and reflections in order to add depth or fatten - or thin out - the reverb. It also has some very nice macros for "morphing" between parameters/setups. I have a TC M3000 reverb (with the acclaimed VSS3 algorithm) and some other reverbs (M-One XL, Waves TrueVerb, SpaceDesigner, Ambience, etc.), but I really like the sound of the CSR, and feel it adds something to my arsenal that I was missing previously.

Yeah I have that Roomworks too. Its not bad, but its also not great I.M.H.O. There is one preset on there though thats really a delay or echo? Can't remember the name of it, but its sounds pretty good. I use it on vocals a lot to give it some width and space, as well as guitars. It kind of reminds me of the echo Perry Ferrel uses on his voice a lot of times.

| I just checked out samples of the new Eventide reverb plug ins and those sounded amazing. To bad you can only run it with Pro Tools and not Cubase. |

PS. Comparisons to Altiverb aside, I found Ambience okay sounding, but it was a CPU hog and would crash Cubase quite frequently...

| Does nobody like arts acoustic reverb? http://www.artsacoustic.com/ It has the modulation that IR reverb can't do, sounds very good to me. MUCH better than waves rverb in my opinion... not too much CPU use. Has the best interface and control of parameters I have seen on a reverb! Anyone else tried this one? |

I agree with what you just said. But i recently finished a mix and swapped the main reverb with W2 and the stereo field felt so much warmer. HDIR. My fav at the moment is W2

| I have played with TC System 6000 (some Hall of Fame presets) and the 480L. I have heard Altiverb, Wizoo W2 and Waves IR-2 stuff. I am using SIR and free IRs of various hardware boxes etc contributed by various kind souls online. Most of these sound arguably richer, more detailed and dense. They sound really PRO when I solo the source with the verb. Until when I start trying to put them to the context of the song. I find it very hard to find the right levels to make the reverb "sit" in the mix, plate/hall/room/chamber types regardless. But since I have started using Spinaudio Roomverb M2 for 6mths or more. I have never spent more than 10 minutes finding a preset that just magically sits in the mix so unbelievably well. And I noticed I can up the reverb level much more when I want to without muddying up too much, and I can down the level much more too and yet still have that "can't really hear it when it's on but notice it when it's gone" effect. The most understated, unhyped and unglamourous quality reverb plugin IMO ![]() |

Hey Lagerfeldt, The M3000 is one of, if not my single favorite reverb boxes. Are you saying CSR verbs are similar. If so I'm off today to buy it. Are you sure it's sonically similar????

| I really liked both of the Convolution verbs that I tried, wizooverb and Ir1 I currently own the Ir1 Other than that the UAD reverbs are outstanding. Everyone mentions that Plate which is of course great but often overlooked is the Real Verb and the Dream Verb. I find that with the exception of Convolution reverb plugs, unless there is some external or PCI DSP power involved most of the reverbs plugs are pretty bad at least compared to hardware. I can usually here in the tails. I have never heard the Sony reverb but I understand that they did a pretty good job on that one.

| I just started using SIR and I like it. Uses a lot of resources on a pretty fast computer compared to the not-so-great N-Track reverb I was using but sounds better and is much more versatile. |
