How Do I Create Sheet Music? -Logic Pro

Hi Everyone,
I would like to make a score of my music to give to musicians (Guitar or Piano) to play my original music but I don't read music. I tried recording in the "Score" view of Logic to create sheet music but it didn't seem to work.

I have recorded one of my songs in Logic Pro 8 any idea how to create sheet music or is there an easier way?

Thanks.

Quite honestly, I don't understand what kind of answer you are looking for. (isn't this the same like "I want to write a book in Chinese but I don't read Chinese"?)

If you want to WRTIE music but you don't READ music then the answer is, start learning to read music first. This has nothing to do with Logic. THere is no magic plugin that will do it for you. You can open the Score Editor and the score is there, but you have to edit (hence the same Score Editor) to prepare a proper print out. And for that you need to understand what all those symbols and lines mean, aka "read music".

If you recorded keyboards (and therefore MIDI) into a MIDI track then you can print the MIDI as a score. Unless you are a really good performer it will probably not look like the score you expect.

If you recorded audio, then you have have two options:

1. Transcribe the music manually. That is, manually create the score in logic. In which case you will need to know how to read music.

2. Use the 'Audio to MIDI' function in which logic tries to figure out what MIDI notes are represented by the audio. However, it usually sucks and I spend more time adjusting it (meaning you will need to know how to read music) than just manually transcribing it.

I find it is easier to manually transcribe using the legally free Lilypond (or one of the other score printing programs) to create a score. But in order to know if the score is correct you will need to know how to read music.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. It will be easier for me to just write tabs for the guitar player instead. I just thought when I saw the score editor I could just make a score of the guitar part but I would need to be able to read all the notes to make sure they were correct. I have some knowledge of reading music but not enough to edit in Logic.

Sorry EastWest Lurker I was just about to buy your book until Edgar told me I had to learn Chinese...ahhahahhaha
