UAD-2 Solo Flexi in small home/project studio

Hi

Looking into UAD-2 Solo Flexi card for effects plugins, normally runs up to maximum 16 channels in Stereo/Mono Modes. Do you believe that the Solo
card will be enough power, finding UAD power estimation page with different plugins a bit difficult when combining effects

Well, you pays your money you takes your choice. I upgraded from a UAD-1 to a UAD-2 solo because, for two hundred quid, I didn't want to lose the investment in UAD plugs I've made over the years and also the solo gives 2 and 1/2 as much power of the old UAD 1. And of course, they do take a little load off the CPU, which, regarding the solo, isn't really much by todays standard.

The plugins are great, no doubt about it but if I was starting from scratch I probably would give UAD a miss unless I could afford a quad, or at least a duo.

Just my 2 pence

After some consideration I will probably go with two SOLO Flexi cards as that will give most for the money with the $1000 worth voucher to buy plugins.......

I've got a duo and 2 UAD-1s. Never run out of power.

But of course that really depends on how you work. I use the plug-ins only when I need them.

When I first got the UADs I used to feel that the song wasn't complete unless my cards were maxed out. 35% left? Oh NO somethings off! Gotta squeeze a FATSO in!

If you want to use the tape stuff, or go across all channels with the SSL, you may run into problems though. You can always add another card later if you wish.
