| Saffire LE issue in logic

Long time lurker, first post!!
I have a focusrite Safire LE running with Logic Pro 9.
I've recently purchased an external compressor/limiter and was hoping to use it on the master. I figured i'd patch out of my Safire LE on 3/4 output to the compressor/limiter and back into 3/4 input. I then inserted the I/O utility on the master out in logic. Set the out to 3/4 and in to 3/4.
My problem is it seems to be also monitoring the unprocessed signal as well as the compressed signal. I have opened up the Saffire mixer software and haven't worked out how to prevent the 3/4 outputs from being monitored.
Any help would be much appreciated. I've have had same issue when trying to process audio through my mood LP.
