Best method for chopping loops

I want to be able to chop loops bang on the transient easily.

Can't get Soundforge for Mac and Audacity is long for zooming in to transients. I want something maybe like recycle but very easy for chopping loops.

Is Geist good for this?

If you don't need to save as .rex files, then there's this: L i v e l a b . d k - Products - LiveSlice

Though I'd pick Geist because it comes with a library and it's got sweet effects built in. Don't have either, though.

Thanks. I have no need for .rex files in logic. But it's important for me to be able to slice waveforms accurately and quickly exactly where I want them so I can export slices to use in a sampler. I am looking at Geist and hope it can chop accurately .eg zoom right in.

Thanks. I will give it a go. Hope that is accurate at placing the slices.

You should check Phatmatik Pro, very simple and very fast.

1. open as a plugin in your DAW
2. open the loop you want in Phatmatik
3. click slice [ it's then mapped to your keyboard ]
4. change number of beats appropriate to your loop
5. and then drag the midi file from Phatmatik to your arrange page and you're done.

I've been using it for years, I've tried to find other stuff to do the same job but up to now nothing's done the job as simply as Phatmatik, it's literally job done in seconds.

You can get more involved if you want, change pitch, move your slice points around in real time, change the volume of each slice, filter it, modulate by LFO, distort, etc. if you want.

Great software and hardly anyone knows about it.
