Thread Starter | Universial Audio Apollo
I´ve a quistion regarding the Apollo that i´m very tempted to buy, in mix situation does the UAD plugins gets cpu power from the Apollo box right?
In that case it would be a no brainer for my studio setup :-)
Thanks in advance

Yes, the processing is handled by the uad chips, with a tiny amount of host pc processing overhead. The duo and quad offer various amounts of processing power.

DCommand | That's correct, the UAD plugs runs on the Apollo (or UAD 2 system) so that the computer has processing power left for different tasks. This works in any host that runs VST, Audio Units, or RTAS plugins, as PT10 or Logic for example.
EDIT: in this chart you can see how many instances of each plug you can run on a single system. Apollo is either Duo or Quad: http://www.uaudio.com/support/uad/co...nce-chart.html |

Not exacly sure what you mean...but if I'm guessing right:
You run PT10 and use all kinds of crazy plugs. The processing power for these are drawn from the Macbook. At the same time, still in PT10 you use some UAD plugs. The processing power for these comes from your Apollo.

I think DCommand is asking whether it is possible to run 3rd party Plug-Ins on an Apollo. The answer is no. Also, keep in mind that the Apollo only ships with the 1176, LA-2A and Pultec EQ Plug-Ins if I remember correctly. Any other Plug-Ins must be purchased separately. It would be best to check their website, really.

Apollo is a great value IMO. I love the ability to take advantage of Apollo's DSP and the power of my computer at the same time. I don't feel limited by either side of things, and enjoy the flexibility to balance both native and UAD plugs. Using both in concert allows each to breathe a bit easier. I can't imagine working in environment that was either completely native or all DSP - both sides have great things to offer in the way of processing/utility.
