I love logic... But...crash why?

Logic Pro 9.1.7

OSX 10.6.8

Logic Works great but....

It'll startup fine and open creating an empty song from the autoload template..

All good.... but...

If i decide to close the project i'm in and then select "New" to open another new blank project to start a different idea or whatever.. Logic Crashes...

Hangs, and "Is not responding" I have to force Quit... EVERYTIME.

So now i'm having to start Logic up again each time i want to start a New song or New Project so to speak..

It will let me close the project i'm working in, in order to open another existing project...

Just WILL NOT allow me to create a "new" project... other than the autoload it creates at startup??

Tried trashing prefs... no joy... Is it a total re-install job?

Anyone?

Thanks.

Zzilla.

What are you running Logic on? Hopefully something that can handle Logic to begin with. Secondly, I would do a clean reinstall. Make sure that your hard drive is healthy and big enough.

I have the same OS and logic 9.1.7,and it super stable.

No crashes!

It took some time to get stable, but has been stable for a long time now.

Any cracked Plugins?

Thanks for the "helpful" replies....

Well the thing is it IS very stable apart from this ONE crash... I can recreate the crash everytime by choosing "new" ... Ive set the preferences for startup to create project from specified template.. no problem there...

Yes my computer can handle it otherwise i wouldn't be using it without problem for so long!

No i don't have a bunch of cracked plugins screwing my system.. I buy stuff!

There are NO third party plugs in my default autoload song anyway...

I'll opt for a clean install and try some other ideas i've got.... I only asked in case someone had the same experience at some point...

it's just weird, apart from this one crash i've found it to be very stable and very competent..

Oh well.... onward.

Wait I had that problem!

I was boot logic up,it would load the last project, but I tried to go to the next project logic would crash everytime!

I had to change the preference to not load the last project on boot up.

Once I don't that everything was back to normal.

It's set to loading last project as well no problems

Try to rebuild a "fresh" Autoload template, it might have been corrupted

big problem on the mountian lion update (I was foreced to).... centred around channel eq of all things (and other graphic heavy plugs) leading to a LOOONNNGGGGG freeze (30 seconds - minute), and occasionally crashing.... come on apply, stability was one of the (admittedly many) biggest selling points for logic! Get to work guys!

Actually I tried to make a new auto load template but deciding where to keep it is confusing.. I miss the days you just kept a song called 'autoload' in te same folder as logic..

User > Library > Application Support > Logic > Project Templates

If you save a project as Autoload in there, it will be available to load each time you create a new song.

You haven't needed to name it Autoload since Logic Pro 8 In the preferences you choose to open with ANY default template.

Look at my other posts, I posted the solution to this in another thread (replace ProKit with an older version).

The full post was here in this thread, but here's the relevant info:

Unfortunately I have FCX installed so I'm sticking with the Lion version, but I did verify that 7.0.0.0.1 worked before I discovered FCX was affected and re-applied the Lion 10.7.4 updated to put 7.2.2 back in place...

Also the last part of this post tells you how to get your current prokit version:
