Win7 X64 Massive USB Midi issues
David, American/English living in the Netherlands, long story!
Getting the home studio up and running again.
I have a PC:
i7 860 quad-core processer (4x2.8Ghz)
6GB of Ram
8 Terabytes of storage
Windows 7 Professional X64
M-Audio FW410 external soundcard
Ableton Live 8.2.2
Guitar Rig 4
USB Midi equipment:
M-Audio Axiom 61
Both units are tried and tested and work on other computers.
They instal fine. Are recognized in Device Manager by name and under properties are "function properly". They recieve power via USB etc.
In Ableton they both show up, but when I try and map them under Preferences they turn orange (which in ableton means trouble apparantly)
Reason simply says either contorl surface is 'in use by another application'
I've gone through every step I can find online. The drivers are up to date. Windows recognizes both devices but no love.
Neither surface works in Reason or Ableton.
The Axiom was able to trigger Cakewalks Native Instrument however, although it would always launch with an error message pertaining to Midi. I uninstalled this thinking maybe there was a conflict. No luck.
Something has to be wrong in the Win7/X64 area. I cannot think what.
I've tried every cable, port and manual fix I can think of. I'm at my wits end.
The sound card works fine. Recording audio in Ableton is a breeze.
Hope someone can help.
