software to split wav/aiff on silence to smaller files - hard to find quality one

I'm trying to split a bunch of single hit sounds into separate files. I had software to do this many years ago but can't seem to find anything now that is good at it.

Suggestions? Mac is preferred but Windows will work too.

I've tried several programs as well as Audacity but most either leave too much silence at the beginning or just don't do a good job.

I thought I had very good software to do this before. Any suggestions? I want to avoid zooming in on hundreds of small sounds and manually marking and cutting them.

Logic's built in functions to split regions out with silence removed has threshold values and works really well.

I think that SAWStudio and Samplitude do this, but I'm not sure. I know that both offer a 'strip silence' feature, but I'm not sure about the 'save' options, if you have a choice to save each then created chunk as it's own file, or if you are stuck saving it as one long file with the silence removed, or if there are multiple steps in the process.
