Thread Starter | New CD printer or label maker
Fellow slutz,
I'm in the market for a new cd printer or labeling system for reference cd's to give to my clients. My old Epson went kaput and I wanted to take an informal poll as to what some of you are using for white surfaced (or not) CDR's. There are probably a few cool things out there I'm not awre of. I'm currently looking at some of the new Epsons.
Many thanks

Epson here, Artisan 835. Not real fast but better than the HP that died after three years...

Thanks for the replies. After some online searching the Epson Artisan series kept coming up as well. Looks like I'm going to stay with Epson.
Cheers

You'll be happy I think with the 835. We got an HP which was fine for a few years, but when it broke, and we got a new one, it never worked right - one thing I love about Best Buy is they take things back no questions asked... Both my partner anf I have mnatching Epron 835s - great as scanner and printer and fax too. Even works via bluetooth.

It looks like the Epson Artisan 835 is discontinued. Does anyone know if the Epson Artisan 837 is the replacement for the 835?

It had already been discontinued when we got our two. Get the closet thing you can, and even look for closeout sales... I think you'll find the same features on all the Artisan series. They just need to have a new model to sell, like cars.

If you don't mind spending a few cents more per disc, I would highly recommend these: Amazon.com: Taiyo Yuden/JVC Water Shield White Inkjet Hub Printable 52X CD-R Media 50 Pack in Cake Box: Electronics
The Watershield surface looks beautiful, and the ink won't run if it gets wet.
At home I have an older HP printer, and while the printing looks good, the disc printing software is a joke.
Thanks to this thread, I might be looking at Epson.
At work we use both Rimage thermal printers, and inkjet. They are great, but REALLY expensive.

Those water-shield are twice as expensive as the regular ones, and who gets their CDs wet anyway? Always use T-Y as they are the best.
By the way, the Epson has clunky software too, but I use my trusty old Magicmouse.com Discus to design, and input as inage to the epson CDPrint. I'd love to know about any better options for label design, for Mac, that is quick and good looking..

Very very happy with our Canon Pixma MP640 (there might be a newer model now, have had this for a couple of years). No issues at all and the quality is excellent!!
