pretty cool RTAS plug-in.
I have been using it on overheads, kick, bass guitar, electric guitar and even for junior mastering, beating TC Master X a few times. It has its own colour. For +/-$150 it is a gift.

I agree with Alecio. It is truly an amazing plugin for the minimal cost. Works on just about anything I've tried it on. Love using it on kick, bass, and guitar. Well worth the money and you just can't go wrong.

Beta testing it was a breeze. Lexicon PSP 42 and 84 are also pretty nice.

Worth every penny and then some. Especially good across the 2.

My hero, Bob O. once posted that he liked it too.

I like it a lot for sub mixes. I also often throw it on a whole mix just to check out what happens and then look for other, better sounding ways to include what I liked and avoid what I didn't like. In this way it's a mind opening processor, something I can't really say about most!

It goes on every vocal I do and if I didn't have the multi-buss stuff and the two buss on hardware, I'd use it there, too.

It depends what you want it to do , no question that its an A grade plug , and you will find a use for it no matter what because for what it does it does very well !like most of PSP's plugs .....Tritone Digtal have some great plugs as well with and 'analog' flavour about them , cann't do without their colortone plug .

By the sound of the other posters , PSP vintage warmer could well be the MSG of plugs ..

Vintage Warmer is my 'go to' plug-in for drum loops in Alsihad, particularly for loops that are augmentative, and dont hold the main kick source. creates wonderful sweet 'pockets' that really bring a mix to life. Just buy it.

VW +1.
And get the MixPack while you're at it.
And Neon HR.
And Nitro.
And MasterComp.
Come to think of it--get the delays.

I'll try VintageWarmer on anything, but really like it on drums (snares particularly) and keyboard samples.

what settings do you guys use? A lot of times I'll use the presets and maybe boost the drive or high eq. Lately I've been using the fast tape setting and some of the guitars settings.

But have any of you made RMS-matched comparisons / ABs with this plug on and off? I remember doing so last year and found it only muddied the sound.

'vintage' and 'warm' wouldnt be my choice of adjectives to describe its sound!

but I really dig it when I get to use it, it works like no other plug really and gets a lot of use from me!

very good question!

especially as the ear prefers the louder sound.... even if the quality of the louder sound is worse.......

This has to be one of my fav plug ins!! this and blue tubes drive! VW goes on everything ... vocals, drums, bass, gutar.. 2 bus (not so often) love the hight eq!! really musical!!

For drum bus i normally set the drive at +12 - +14 bring the ceiling back a little to like -2, then just boost the high eq say +4 at around 5 - 8k, really crisps up the snare...

Does anyone know if a universal binary version is out yet???

Bluey

my fav preset is the default.... or 0 -> 1.5 db gain

then 60%-> 75% mix

release 1/2 -> 1/4 depends on tempo...

eq to taste!
