| Best Midi Controller for me
Hello everyone, I am new on this forum and wanted to get some feedback on some midi controllers I have been looking at. First let me say what I already have for my home recording area -
Macbook Pro
Pro Tools 10
Maschine
Roland Gaia Synthesizer
Avid Elevenrack
Focusrite saffire 24
Basically I am looking to use the keyboard to work as a controller for Pro Tools and to play other instuments for recording. I am less concerned with the drum pads since I already have the maschine that I will use to track drums with. Ease of use is the primary thing for me as I don't get too much time to play so if something has too steep of a learning curve it will collect dust. A built in arpeggiator is also a plus. Here are the keyboards I am considering -
Novation Impulse 61 - This on paper sounds like it has everything I am looking for with the automap feature and also a built in arpeggiator. This is also the cheapest of the three I am looking at, I can grab a brand new one for $300.
Akai MPK61 - The bonuses on this one are the construction as well as the extra pads. Although as stated before, I really don't think I would be using them too much. Also I have read that it is a little more difficult to program.
M-Audio Axiom Pro 61 - This is the most expensive of the three, I don't think it has the arpeggiator. It seems like it would be easy to use though. I read a lot about the lack of quality from M-Audio.
I am new to the whole word of computer music and recording but have been enjoying it since I can't crank a tube amp in my house anymore. I want to make sure I am not missing anything. I am really leaning towards the Novation since it is the cheapest and sounds like it has everything I am looking for. I just want to get some other opinions before I make the purchase. Thanks!
