BCF 2000 Mackie Mode Cubase

Hi there,

after working the whole day to solve a technical non-understandable voodooish problem, I am finding myself beeing at a loss. Also searched the internet, but not even a small post spending a little light :(

Maybe it is only a knob, a little push/pull change of a parameter, a simple solution ?

Here is the story:

I changed from Cubase to Reaper, and when it comes to work with DAW`s, I am quite fast and used to work with a mouse only interface.

although.

But because of tasting the favour of recording parameters` action, rather then paint automations, I decided to 2nd hand buy one BCF2000 and one BCR2000 so I could experiment a little, and started to first setup the BCF.

OS: Win7 /64.

Driver Installation worked, set the Interface to U1 (single use USB Mode).

My Goal is, to use it in Mackie/Cubase Mode and don`t use the original Mackie Mode implemented int the DAW software, but modified Data, provided by Klinke (a Member of Cockos Reaper forum).

Anyway:

There are different DAW controller Emulation Modes from which you can choose one. This should be setup during turning on the unit (eg. BC Mode, MCU Mode etc.).

The manual says, that you should press the 2nd Button in the first row, hold it, then turn on the unit - then it should automatically switch into MCU mode.

But it doesn`t.

If ou do the same, but pressing the first button instead of the 2nd, it should show BC Mode. And it does.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this ? I would be very happy. Maybe it is just one of those issues where you try everything, but forget to plugin the power chord (the power chord is plugged in, by the way

It does on my 2000 using the procedure you've described, and hasn't failed to so so in the six years or so I've had the unit. If it isn't working either the unit is malfunctioning or you're doing something wrong. Sounds as if you're doin' it right so the unit may be broken. Try using Sonar mode, fourth button from left, I think that's what I used to use with Klinke's .dll, I'm on a Mackie these days.

thanks for the reply. sonar mode also fails, I can`t get any of the emulations to work. Maybe I have to download the firmare and reinstall it?

Good idea. I hope you get it going OK. The BCF works great with the Klinke und Reaper.

Battle on.

Firmware installed again. Same problem. And I have the feeling that this thing doesn`t act like it should - this is a used one, and I think it is kaputt.

I wrote the guy who sold it to me.

Good bye.

Bad flash, man. If you can get a used Mackie and you have the cash, I do recommend getting it. I used the BCF for a long time before getting the MCU and it served me admirably but the on board scribble on the MCU and all extra buttons, lights, jogger and the complete transport are well worth having.

I take it the CMC modules do not work with Reaper or any other DAW program?

I used 2x BCF's and I replaced them with a system entirely based on CMC modules. Night and day, no comparison.
thanks for the idea, but i don`t think it is good to sell something which might be damaged. the one who buys it won`t be happy.

Hm, should work with anything, at least it is nothing more then sending parameters via midi, the question is: how much time does it consume to set it up right

I`d like to get me a new behringer anyway, I still have the other one (BCR), and spent a lot of time, figuring out, how this units works.
