Mainstage 2 inside another DAW

I'm considering dropping the $30 for Apple's Mainstage 2 (since it comes with about 20gb worth of synths, plug-ins, effects etc.) I have three questions.

1) Will I be able to access and use the Mainstage synths, instruments, plugins etc. inside another DAW, say for example, Presonus Studio One Pro?

2) Does Mainstage include all of the Apple JamPacks?

3) If the answer to #1 is no, will I be able to use the content inside of GarageBand?

Thanks for your help!

1) No. The synth, instrument and effect plugins are all build into Logic. One could not use ES2 outside of Logic.

2) If you buy Mainstage from the App Store, you will be able to download 19gb of bullshit from Apple, so just about anything you could want will probably be in there. No guarantees.

3) You should be able to use downloaded instruments inside of Garageband, but honestly I have no idea.

1 - he means can he use mainstage as a rewired host, and run the instruments inside mainstage.

I'm not sure Mainstage can be a host or slave to rewire, but then again I have not messed with Mainstage in a very long time, so my input is not helpful.

MS can only be a host in a rewire relationship. And don't try to use it as VEP kind of thing, it doesn't work.

Anybody else have any input on this? It seems like a steal for $30. But I use Studio One and Garageband. Not logic. Just want to be sure I could make use of the studs in those daws

The only thing you'll be able to use are the Apple Loops. Garageband and Logic share the same folder for this so anything that's in there is available for both apps. But you can't use the synths or FX in anything else. If you don't intend to gig with this app, don't waste the 30$...

I went ahead and got mainstage. It does, in fact, come with all of the jam packs (insane deal) and every instrument from the jam packs shows up on garageband. So it allows you to add about 10gb worth of instruments and loops to garage band for dirt cheap.

As far as the actual mainstage instruments etc...those appear to be locked into mainstage itself and are useable only through that program.

Yep, the effects and instruments in Logic and mainstage are part of it's source code, not separate plugins.

Wrong. I use mainstage as slave for my live.
Download soundflower app.
This way you can write midi sequences on another daw and route them to Mainstage.
I actually bought Mainstage for this usage only.
Its a bit tricky in the beginning but if you're having doubts just shout.

As for the loops, you can grab them and convert them to Aif or Wav files (they're encoded in CAF format - Logic)
Its a pain in the ass to do this for the whole library...but do a selection and use them further on at another daw!

You can also use the fxs from mainstage/logic on your own daw. All u need is to use Soundflower and route the audio to the fxed bus!

You can do this with Mainstage or Logic daw...it works either way!

Hey guys, new here but really need to ask this:

Am I going to be able to program a MIDI foot controller to stack different FX via Mainstage AND simultaneously the different channels on my tube amp all in one channel on the controller?

Cheers
