Duet 2 in aggregate with Saffire Pro 40

I was wondering if anyone has had any success using an Apogee Duet 2 with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40? I think I read somewhere that it had been done, and I was wondering how reliable this set up is, especially considering that Apogee released new drivers for Lion and it seems especially stable compared to when the Duet 2 first came out.

Also, I've read that when you aggregate the devices in OS X that you have to pick a master clock and then OS X will automatically sync the devices to the same clock without having to actually connect the devices to each other. I was wondering if using the Duet 2 as the master clock would improve the performance of the Saffire Pro 40 in this setup since I'm guessing it probably has a slightly better clock. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Word clock

I don't think it works cus you need a master clock and the duet can't slave as it doesn't have word clock i/o.

Yeah, that's what I mean. When you link the two devices together in Core Audio on OS X you have to pick a master clock between the two devices, and then I've read that it syncs both of them to the clock source you decide on. This happens through the software and USB without having to actually connect the two devices together.
Here's a link to an image of what the screen looks like: http://jole.ca/wp-content/uploads/20...2.05.15-PM.png

Good luck

I tried with the original duet and it didn't work. Maybe you will have a different experience ? There is a difference between the gui in PT indicating you have an aggregate device and it actually working !

The original Duet didn't support aggregate devices, but the Duet 2 does, so that's possibly why it didn't work for you. Also, I don't use PT, I use Logic. That screenshot was from the Audio MIDI Setup screen in OS X.

Has anyone else had any luck linking a Duet 2 with a Saffire Pro 40? Or do you know how the clock source in OS X works between aggregate device?
