Browser playback differences

Check this out..Curious if any techies here know whatsup.
I'm talking to a buddy who found his mp3s to be bassier once uploaded to Soundclick. He sent me the link and the original file, and they sounded the same to me. He did a What U Hear loopback test out of the browser into his DAW, and it was the same as the original sound.
Upon trying a different browser than Firefox, his issue went away. The Soundclick link sounded the same to me in both FF and Chrome. The same as the file he sent me.

So, we conclude that the difference is occuring only through Firefox only through the speakers. Now I can understand that a browser MIGHT play back differently, but for it not to do so on What U Hear, only out of the speakers instead, sounds impossible to me.

He doesn't have the appropriate cable to compare Interface output>input of the Firefox playback to Interface output>input of the original in Windows Media Player.

Upon discovering it was Firefox, he has also confirmed that video playback of other songs etc is different between his Firefox and Chrome.

What on earth?
