Try just 6.0.
6.5 was flaky even on W7

Yup, I had C6 working with XP but as for actually working (recording, mixing, etc), a bit of a train wreck. Works like a charm with Win 7, extra RAM is a good idea too

First make sure microsoft net framework is updated to 3.5 and reboot.

Do you have the boxed version with installer CD....I think this is only C6 yes?

So you need to install this first from the CD and then run 6.5 update (download) and finally 6.5.3 patch (smaller download). Not 100% sure if this is correct but basically you must run a setup first and then updates.

Details of other fixes for intall problems on XP here but hopefully you won't need to do this.

thanks a lot!

the upgrade package i got says Cubase 6.5

i am a little afraid now. i will start a album production on monday and i just thought that it would be nice to have Cubase 6. but i doubt that its a good idea to update so close before a production because i want to avoid any troubles during the recording.
what do you guys think?
an update to Windows 7 wouldnt be easier isnt it?
that will need a whole day upgrading all the plugins and software i guess.hm.

I track everything in Cubase 5 on XP,have for a couple years. It is solid.
I do my surgical stuff in 5 and then take the project to my W7 6.0 system to mix in my other room.5 is more than capable until you get the project tracked
and saved. Then buy another W7 64 bit machine,my mixroom system has 16 gig of ram and my mastering rig has 14 gig.If you can't afford that just use 5.

p.s.I mix in PT10 also that is why I have separate tracking and mixroom rigs

the only reason why i wanted to upgrade to Cubase 6 is because of the group editing function and the drum editing with that beat detective style feature.
hm.

If that is your situation, don't upgrade your DAW. Upgrading OS and DAW before production (in several days) is a bad idea.

its impossible to find a cubase 6.0.1 version for download.

I thought C6 upgrade from C5 was only available as a boxed product with install CDs? I know mine was.

Anyhow, if you are certain you bought the correct thing and don't have installers, you can download the C6.5 trial version...which works as full version if you have the correct licence installed. So you'll only need install C6.5 trial and C6.5.3 update.

Regarding updating before a project....If you make sure you can restore your system to pre the install and leave C5 installed in case of any problems you pretty much cover yourself. Maybe record into C5 as you know it's rock solid and then transfer to C6.5 for edit/mix.

What's your main reason not wanting to upgrade....I mean it's 2012.
W7 is ultra stable for audio...it runs better actually me find....

Geezzz ....save your datas and upgrade your system you't wont be disappointed.

Furthemore...you'll be able tom use all latest update of what ever you want without risk....
So you have the impression it is risky or a time loss...but that's just the contrary. Believe me.

just my 2 cent

Best regards.

There IS NO 6.1, this is the last available update for Cubase 6, NOT 6.5
Cubase 6

Version 6 is no longer available for purchase which is why you bought 6.5

6.5 is a paid upgrade for users who had 6 and wanted to move to 6.5 for the new features. 6.5 is a NEW product if you will. Im afraid your peeing in the wind but you cant hear that for some reason. Windows 7 will solve your issue or you can continue with your rant

You could try the Cubase 6 trial and see if that works. Its in the Cubase folder

I would try a 6.5 reinstall and find the issue...that's absolutely weird.

What's your system spec?

YOUR PROBLEM IS: You are trying to install Cubase 6.5 under Windows XP, which is not supported, because Cubase 6.5 is designed for Windows 7. Nevertheless you can install it, and ist seems to work (I had the same (GLC1034.TMP) problem and I just installed it, did not yet try it out extensively but at least I could install it properly now).

HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Do NOT use the autostart Function of the Installation DVD but click on the "directories" Icon of the Windows Explorer (? in German its called "Ordner") to get the splitted design, where you cann look into the drectory of the DVD. Open the directory "Cubase 6 for Windows" und there click on on setup.exe directly. - And make sure that you habe 8 GB of free diskspace on drive C (which is a challenge :-))) That´s all!

Good luck with this one
Best regards from Germany

Detlev

Besides - just in case anyone has installation problems with an Emagic Unitor 8 (which almost killed my last nerves last week) get someone who speaks german and visit this site: Midi Interface wird unter Windows XP nicht erkannt hier ist die LÖSUNG. | buenasideas Musik & Foto | Infos Bilder & Klangbeispiele This is a Windows problem you have to erase some lines in the registry because Windows can only administer 10 midi entries, but creates some garbage lines which block your installation. So keep only the first "midi" entry and erase the mid1 ... to ... mid9 entries as shown on the pictures in the path mentioned under the link.
