Dual boot systems: OS for DAW + OS for everyday use = "safe?"

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this question to even consult the almighty google, but tell me if my logic is flawed here...

Let's say I have two separate installations of the same OS on the same HDD (in my case, Win 7 64bit). The "DAW" installation is configured to be offline, no virus protection, etc, and with the "daily driver" OS I surf online, play games, and what not.

Is the DAW installation any safer than if I just used one single OS for everything? (assuming I had virus protection enabled)

The answer is yes but safety is only the one side. As long as you keep your daw partition off the internet or with an occasional scan from a call on demand light antivirus if you want to connect for updates (and only). The other is performance and reliability. On an everyday use pc lots of general software running in the background like anti-virus,auto updates, services, internet utilities etc. All this in a music oriented pc might degrade the performance and introduce stability issues, drops, pop and clicks or larger latency.
Search on the forum for pc optimization for audio and leave on the other boot partition all the other tasks for everyday use.
