removed 25 gigs-drive shows 3 gigs free !

Did some housekeeping of my hard drive the other day. Its a 250 gig glyph netdrive. I trashed 25 gigs worth of stuff i dont need and my drive intially said that there was around 25 gigs free. Thing is, i did a small bit of recording to the drive yesterday (about 200 megs worth) and now the drive reckons there is only 3.2 gigs worth of space left.

Does this sound like a corrupted volume content/directory file? I did have some problems with a bad directory earlier in the year and disk utility on mac osx is saying the drive needs repairs.

Can anyone add any futher ideas/info?

cheers

dan

DEFRAGMENT THE DRIVE

Even after emptying the trash, space can still be taken up by old information.
