Apogee Duet Alternatives

What else is out there that's worth considering? On a late 2011 iMac with Lion.

RME Babyface. Owned the duet and much prefer the Babyface. top notch pres and converters and expandable via ADAT, Rock solid drivers and great software.

This seems to be at a completely different price point and with a much larger feature set, no?

All true, but that doesn't mean it's not a good alternative. Still bus powerable, 2 channel analog in, etc.

Correct. I've owned a ULN-2 for several years - it is not a peer with the Apogee Duet. Very different animals. ULN-2 is FW and not USB. It has an extensive feature set more suited to a full blown studio setting. Also ULN-2 despite it`s moniker is in my own experience is not really mobile in that it cannot be bus powered by many MacBooks. It`s a fabulous unit, but I would not consider it a Duet replacement. It is also roughly 3x the price.
