Is Motherboard with triple-channel memory still popular/affordable?

Looking for a new mobo and cpu soon, and wondering is triple channel memory and motherboard still a affordable/practical choice for a high-end PC?

I remember a few years back it was becoming popular, but it's been a while since I have seen one so I begin to wonder if they died out?

cheers

Maybe It wasn't worth the little overall performance gain you get from it? With the right CPU and motherboard (X79) you can run four modules in quadchannel configuration btw.
