Creating A Portable Pro Tools Rig

Ok, here's what I want to do: I mix at a few different studios around town and I want to be able to have my software/plugins/etc remain the same no matter where I'm at. What I'm thinking I want to do is get a super fast Thunderbolt external hard drive and then use it as a portable system drive that I would plug in to each studio's existing Mac, boot up from, and can run everything from. Is that a good idea? And do you have any tips on how to do that?
Thanks!

Hey There
I have been doing just this for the past few months but I used a portable Lacie USB and Firewire 400 drive. There is an install of Lion and ProTools 10 on it and thats it. It works great and means I can work anywhere without having to rely on other peoples set ups. I record any audio onto the studios drives and then take copies for myself on thumb-drives.
The one downside would be if the computer in the studio where you are to work has an older machine that was unable to boot the system you have on your drive.
