The Future of Analog Sound Emulation (?)

Greetings, my fellow slutz.
(this is kind of a general question so i wasnt sure where to post it)

As CPU power increase itself rapidly as time passes, is it possible that we will reach to a point where we posses such an incredible proccessing power to fully emulate analog sound digitally? (no hybrid what so ever).

is it doable with the proccessing power we already have today?
or is it a clear case of oranges & apples?

thanks
