| Midi Guitar directly into Protools ? I have a Godin Multiac Grand Concert nylon string guitar with an RMC pickup that has audio and midi outs. The system is generally used with an interface box such as the Roland GR-33, and then analog out into an amp or whatever. Can I plug the guitar directly into a midi port on my PT Accel system, and use a plugin to create sounds ? If so, are there any recommended TDM or RTAS patches that would work well with the guitar?

| Gear nut | Yes, if it is the unit with Midi outs and not 13-pin roland outputs. There are a thousand synths/samples out there to control via midi so you best to search around for the sounds your looking for. |

| I do believe it has the 13 pin Roland GK jack and not a standard MIDI connection. For that you'll need the Roland GI-20 as explained here: http://www.godinguitars.com/berklee/Connections.htm Just please don't start playing Flutes, Frenchhorns, Strings, B3 Organs, or hi hat with your guitar. | Yeah, that GI-20 looks like the part I need, unless anyone knows of a simpler and cheaper Roland 13pin - midi adaptor. Personally, I hate cheesey guitar synth fake instrument sounds, but some of the folks I deal with love that crap and can actually make it sound decent once it's in a mix and anyway... shit happens. The only time I really enjoyed a guitarist imitating other instruments with cheesey sounds was when I went to Japan with a really good Latin guitarist, Joe Cano and out of the blue he started mimicking trombone solos, singing and blowing the parts with his lips, and miming the the trombone slide movement while the percussionist & I (on bass) kept the groove. Then between songs he proceeded to pretend to tune the trombone. He had the auditorium full of suited Japanese businessen (it was a chamber of commerce event) laughing and out of their seats, and for the rest of the evening they were cheering & bringing us sake on stage and loving it.
