Using Sonar with two interfaces (Baby Face/ VRM Box)

I have the VRM Box connected digitally to my RME baby face. It works fine, except when the VRM Box randomly goes quiet. Then I have to disconnect the VRM and it'll work again for 10 more minutes and die again.

I emailed focusrite about this and they were beyond useless.

I figured I might as well just use the two interfaces separately. In my DAW (Sonar) the Focusrite driver is greyed out and cant be used.

Are there any convenient ways to use these two pieces of equipment without ruining work flow?

P.S if you know the answer to the VRM Box quietness problem, I'd love to hear it.

If you are using ASIO, you can only use one interface at a time. You can use both if you use WDM. Just be sure to make one the master clock and slave the other to it. You could use the spdif for this. Slave the VRM to the RME. I do this with a Fireface 400 and Motu 2408. That's about all I can think of. Not sure about the silence issue.

Yeah, Its slaved to the RME right now. It's just annoying to have it randomly stop working.

I have a VRM box. I was originally using it with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. I replaced the Saffire Pro 40 (it died) with a Roland Octa-Capture about 7 months ago and have been using the VRM box with the Roland. I haven't run across the problem you are having.

Hi PapiBlack,

Sorry to hear that we weren't able to solve your issues as yet. I found your case from April and notice that will still waiting for some info and for you to try a couple of things. If you get in touch with us again we'd be more than happy to help look into your issue further.

I didn't think the line of questioning was headed anywhere, but I'll check the things I was asked and respond.

I'll post back in this thread the solution if found.

I've dealt with Focusrite support on several issues with my Saffire Pro 40 and support was excellent. They even went over what one would expect with one Pro 40 Mix Control problem.

VRMbox is working fine as soon as the USB hub stopped working and I had to use the computer slot.
Good product. I recommend it.
