Pro Tools vs Logic Input Monitoring?
Long time Logic user. Whenever I want to arm a track in Logic I can hit record or the "I" button to do the input monitoring, which is helpful so I can play back my recorded tracks and try out new ideas at the same time on that same track.

Gotten into Pro Tools over the past year, which seems to make me choose between hearing my guitar and no previously recorded track or the opposite not hearing the live guitar but I can hear the track--when the track is playing. Gotta press option-k to switch between these choices.

Is there a way I can get both of these at the same time in PT like I do in Logic?

PT HD has the Input Monitor option. I don't believe there is anyway in stand PT.

How about two different tracks with the same input?

If I understand the OP question correctly, PT has a "tape style" monitoring. During playback you do not hear a tracks input until that track is actually recording. While only armed on playback, you will only hear pre-recorded material. Is that what you mean?
