Using a 32 Bit Logic project after switching to 64 Bit - Plugin settings lost?

Hello,

I recently upgraded from 4 to 16 GB Ram on my iMac 27 with an i7 CPU. Naturally I would like to start using Logic in 64 Bit now, but I have a difficult time with all those projects that I started in 32 Bit mode. The problem is that all the plugin settings that should be saved with the project seem to be reset if the project is opened in 64 Bit Logic. Going back to 32 Bit recalls all those settings correctly and as expected.

Does this mean that I have to finish these projects in 32 Bit before making the switch to 64 Bit with future projects? That would be very disappointing since those unfinished projects are very heavy and at this point almost unusable with the memory limit in place.

I can't imagine I'm the only one trying to move forward to 64 Bit while caring about active projects. Is this behavious normal?

I'm grateful for any help. The OS is Lion 10.7.4 and Logic is up to date with version 9.1.7. I should add that most of my plugins offer 64 Bit support and therefor probably loading an actual new 64 Bit instance after the switch. I just expected them to preserve the instrument and effect settings I made before. Note: I prefer to save those settings with the logic project file - saving them within the plugin instance seems to be more complex than it should be as there are a lot of instances.

Thanks for your time and help.

Strange behavior. I don't get that.
You could always save channel strip presets and opening them when you open project at 64 bits. Save your project then as save a copy as just to be safe

Yes, I figured that this would be an alternative solutions, but obviously I'd like to avoid the extra work. Furthermore I could imagine that a saved channel strip re-instantiates the plugins the same way as if you open the project like I did - thereby causingnthe same strange behaviour. Though I didn't try that yet, so pure speculation.

Try cleaning the cache. There might be a bug on your side.

First try forcing AUVal to rescan in 32bit mode then 64bit mode (both in that order).

If that doesn't work move prefs to the desktop as described in Apple's troubleshooting Logic page and restart Logic.

why not simply open in 32...carefully bounce the tracks down to audio and save...then open in 64.
i realise that perhaps this might stall a work in progress due to instruments not being available and live... but the idea is to open in 64 and hear the track as intended...then move on from there ... any which way.

Another option is to duplicate the project file and rename it. Then go into Logic's browser tab, double click the original project file and import only presets. Do tell us if you could solve it and how you did it. Curious myself
