Thread Starter | Cubase 6/windows 7 32 bit won't load waves plugs ??
Ever since I upgraded to windows 7, Cubase 6 doesn't "remember" the waves plug ins that were previously loaded in the project. I realize waves isn't ported for 64 bit yet, but this is within a 32 Cubase project.
When I re open a Cubase 6 project (32 bit), I get a "list" of all the waves plugs, but it won't load them. It will simply just "churn" until I either select a waves plug, or click elsewhere,... at which time the project will load, just without any of the waves plugs.
I can always load a waves plug with no problem. C6 just won't load the same plugs into a previously saved project. Again, this only started when I switched from XP to windows 7.
Any ideas?

i had similar issue and had to reinstall the plugs to their own folder, not the cubase vst folder, then i went into the cubase device drop down and told cubase to locte not only the vst folder, but the waves folder too.

Are you talking about the cubase "plug in manager" (I believe that's what it's called), under the drop down menu? If so, how do you "tell" cubase to locate the waves folder?
There's an "update" plugins button. I do have "waveshell" listed in the plugins list, but it still won't "remember" the waves plugs that were loaded the last time.

You need to scan the waveshell.dll, not the plugs themselves.
A few dozen Waves 9 installations done, never an issue.

Waves installs the actual plugins in one location, but the vst waveshell files can (and should) be stored somewhere else, preferably where you installed other plugins.
So, don't scan the plug files (with their real plugin names), but the 32 and/or 64 bit VST "waveshell" files which the Waves installer asks you where to put them.

I can find it easily when I simply open the c drive, program files, etc. Another strange thing is the fact that within the plugin manager, "waveshell" is listed already, with a "check" beside it, yet Cubase still won't load the plugs when opening.
Again,... what the?

I then went to the plugin menu in cubase, added the waveshell path, and cubase still wont load the waves plugs upon re opening a previously saved project.
Perhaps steinberg support will come up with an answer.
Thanks

Update,...Steinberg support says they "think" the waves version I'm still using(4.0) isn't compatible with Cubase on Windows 7.
I really didn't want to have to "upgrade" anything else, especially since I don't use that many waves plugs in my projects.
Here we go again,..geez.

I've never been impressed with Steinberg support. It would not be the first time they give erroneous advice.
In my case, the Waves plug-in DOES show up in Cubase 5.5.3 but NOT in Cubase 6.5.2 so I seriously doubt a re-install would improve matters.

Here we go again,..geez. | Waves doesn't even support v4 anymore I think. At some point you either need to update or leave your system as is.

I can load them no problem, .. cubase just wont re load them after a save and re open. This is what's so frustrating.
Steinberg support just helped me figure out a digital out distortion issue I was having,..so I haven't had too many bad support experiences,.. but I did like it WAY better when I could just pick up the phone and actually speak with a human without any hassles.
