Can't get Pro Tools to recognize my mic!

My mic is connected via XLR to my MBOX Mini interface. The green signal light comes on every time sound is made into the microphone. I can even hear audio when I speak into the mic.

I just can't seem to get pro tools to agree with my setup.

When I set up my outputs in the I/O screen, the studio monitors appear as orange/yellow as I select them. However my input options all appear as white. I think this is where my problem stems from. Is there something I'm missing?

I have the mic line button appropriately pressed and my mic is powered.

I can give screen shots for anything you guys may need. Please help!

Screen shot of the inputs page of io setup would help. Possibly hitting "default" here will give you available inputs.

What input is selected on the channel you're trying to record to?

It looks like your Pro Tools interface is not currently selected as your audio interface. It looks like it is using your computer's built-in soundcard.

Go to Setup-> Playback Engine

At the top, you should be able to choose the current engine in the dropdown. Select your interface, and we'll go from there.

So I switched the playback engine to MBOX and it worked to let tracks arm and record, but I ran into latency problems. I did some research and found that using ASIO as my engine will decrease those latency issues.

However, its not that simple. Now when I switch to ASIO I run into the same problem I had when I started this thread. This is what my playback engine setup screen looks like.

Thanks so much to everyone replying to this, but I need more troubleshooting!

I could be way off-base here and just flat-out wrong - especially since I have never used an ASIO interface with Pro Tools, but I think in order to use that ASIO4ALL driver that you appear to have loaded - you will also have to have a WDM driver loaded for your Mbox mini to be accessible through it.
Again, I could be wrong here, but it just seems like that is two hoops to jump through to get audio from your interface to your audio software, which could actually induce even more latency. I'd think you'd be much better off to just use the AVID drivers for the Mbox that allow it to show up directly in Pro Tools as an available interface.

Can you just turn the "mix" knob on the Mbox to the left to be able to do direct input monitoring of the microphone without it passing through the computer - thus eliminating the monitoring latency all-together? Just a thought.

Your idea worked but it also disables listening to instrumentals while recording. But on the plus side you did prove that my issue is indeed a latency problem. I can't seem to find a good guide to enabling ASIO as my audio driver for pro tools.

If anyone has any ideas for fixing that please advise!
