Looks like pro tools waits for all other programs to release the native card in order to use it. It sees only the aggregated option if any other program is using the native card. This is very strange. Anyone...?

Pt native talks to the hd card via its own protocol, not core audio, so it's not available to other programs. This gives you more stability and faster response (in theory at least).

so i can't use pro tools and listen to refs from iTunes or quicktime at the same time?
Or mix in PT and create midi parts in logic pro at the same time...?

thats bad. in core audio you can do anything you want... and you end up paying PT so much more...? not sure i get the concept...:(

The "concept" is as stated by psycho_monkey to bypass core audio
it allows the hardware to talk DIRECTLY to the software without another layer (core audio) to slow processing or to confuse the stream with anything else
