Moving Application Support/Soundbank Files

I moved some application support and soundbank files to an external disk for faster reading but programs do not give me a chance to alert them to the move.

For example:

I moved all of the Reason Refills to another disk, but upon opening Reason it just asks for the installation disk to re-install the Refills to the boot drive. I want to tell it to look to another drive! Same thing with Audioease Speakerphone and it's IRs.

Any suggestions?

I haven't used reason in awhile, but I DO remember it being a little persnickety with wanting at least the Orchestra Disc and ProgramSoundbank Discs or refills on the boot drive, (if I have their names correct).
I have had to move lots of stuff to external drives, or seperate drives (Ni's Ultimate just wasn't going to fit well on my system drive....:(), ... and I have had some mixed success. I would just recommend moving the larger sample libraries etc, and leaving an alias of their folders in place. Then test them by booting the app in stand-alone if possible. Most versions of standalone soft synths/romplers etc (like Kontakt, VSM etc), will allow you to designate the path of the library from their preferences... I have had better luck with that then instantiating them from a daw and then trying. Also, you probably, if possible (again, as in Kontakt), re-scan your library so the presets contained in your application support (which are pretty small), know which and where the samples they are tied to are. Which depending on your library, could take awhile.

Ooh, I'll try the alias trick and see if that works!
