Mountain Lion and Logic Glitch

Hi
just installed Mountain lion and updated most of the plugins I could find that have updates. Logic is pretty good but once in a while probably every 15 minutes it seems to choke up for a couple of seconds and then resumes. Has anyone had this problem in mountain lion and has a fix
thanks

Do you run Activity Monitor to see if there's a sudden spike in I/O or some other background App concerning CPU?

Same here. Freezes up for a few seconds (but playback doesn't stop)

New computer though so I haven't used it on earlier operating systems...

I am looking at the Activity monitor. I dont see any spikes or other programs hogging cpu but the bottom of the cpu meter says 1146 Threads, 64% idle, Process 153.
also I have 20 gigs of ram and it says 2gb free the VM says 472.45gb
what is VM is that Virtual Memory and why des it say such and insane number?

I also noticed on the activity monitor that when logic is playing it says 150% and I have 8core machine. Is that normal. plus the activity monitor in logic shows all the 8 cores 40-50% being used. I have had way bigger mixes then this one and there was only 15-20% used. This is driving me nuts

yes, it jsut happened again tonight

i have to stop, let it sit and start it back up again

the thing that really sucks is when you are recording and it happens it staggers thru but it records the glitches and totally hoses the take

it has happened every day this week for me, its not buffers either that i can tell

Audio people never upgraded for at least 6 months.

It's a daw machine,a new OS is the last thing to consider.

My problem is when logic x comes about,it might not support SL!

But it seem lion is the one to go to...

Look for 3rd party graphic drivers like AirDisplay or AirParrot and delete those.

I made the jump to ML after cloning my Lion system drive. I can confirm the bug is happening here also. Going back to Lion as I write this. Meh.

--- bizarre thing is that Protools 10.2 (native) is working flawlessly.

Ironic really.

Upgrade here. BUT, its doing it in BOTH DAWS. ML is the issue

Others have done a clean install and it made no diff for them

Has anyone got this resolved yet with any further releases or is it still an issue?

I am running SL on a MBP and was interested in the new iMacs, but if that means upgrading to ML and causing problems with Logic I'll have to wait.

Appreciate any comments.

How about clocking in with whether you have an ATI, Nvidia or Intel (IGP) graphics? Or at least make/model if it's an iMac, MBP, MBA or rMBP etc

Also report bugs to Apple if you have not done so already.

Do you have a Logic Project that can repeat this, if so, post it.
At least with everyone trying your project we can narrow down what the issue might me.

Had a very similar problem myself. It didn't matter what project I was using in logic I would get the random audio glitches and CPU spike for anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds before settling back down. It was completely random but would happen repeatedly while logic was open. This was without any instrument plugins just a few stock logic fx plugins. Would even happen sometimes using just midi tracks and audio tracks to monitor my hardware through - Not even any recorded audio. When I realized I was also getting them now in live too (audio glitches) I knew it was more than just a logic problem.

Mountain Lion seemed to be the culprit for me. Never had that problem before updating. Just rolled back to a clean install of Lion earlier this week and so far the problem seems to be gone. Found a 50+ page thread on the apple forum about this sound glitch problem here

Sorry you're having issues.

Currently I'm running a
MacMini Server Mid 2011
2 GHz Intel Core i7
16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
OSX 10.8.2 (12C60)

With NO audio issues that everyone is talking about.
I'm using the internal audio as well, no external audio device.
I've thought about using my Firewire 410 but things are running great so, if it ain't broke, don't fixt it.

Again, that's the only reason I asked about posting a Logic Project to see maybe there's something that I'm not doing that everyone else is doing.

You're lucky. It would do it just by loading up logic here - not project specific. Happened on all projects or a brand new one with only 1 audio channel created (not from a template but new). As I said rolling back to Lion seemed to solve the problem so far.

Hmm, internal audio. That may be the main difference. Never tried running internal audio because I'm running hardware and need an interface to track it into Logic. FWIW I'm using a Mackie 1640i which uses no external drivers - complete plug and play on Mac. Similar problems in both Logic and Live so it lead to believe ML as the culprit.

Yeah, I'm having a similar problem with Logic Pro on an iMac 27" w/ Mountain Lion. It freezes up during playback, but you can't stop it. I just have to let it play through the rest of the song and when the cursor is at the end. It stops and everything is fine... until it does it again. I can't force out of it either (mouse and keyboard are unresponsive - but Logic plays as normal, with the automations moving and playback sounds fine). This is obviously a nightmare when you're trying to edit.

Anyone find a solution?
