How do you compare the workflow? | I've been buying NI stuff over the past few months or so. Been using Reason since v2

"this drum track needs a nice transient compressor....let me just load up GUITAR RIG and then find my transient plug in their AMAZING browser...."
yeah....right. Anybody who does extensive production knows every extra step required (e.g. loading guitar rig and then loading a plugin inside it VS. just loading a good VST plug directly) makes a huge difference in overall workflow. Not to mention being forced to use NI's crapper browser system for their FX rather than just having them available in your DAW's plugin folder. Ridiculous stuff...but it must be working or they'd have already changed it, I'm thinking. So strange.
-M | I love guitar rig and its bundled nature doesn't bother me in the slightest. I use it for what its good for the same way I use Amplitube as another rack of fx in the same nature and use them with my other fx side by side.

I love both as well, and while I don't yank out Guitar Rig or Amplitube just for a chorus or etc over a single plugin, the centric nature of them bothers me much less than years past. Even using the same 2008 era machine over the last 5 years I feel they've both gotten more efficient and have gone from using just maybe 1 instance of only 1 per tune to having several (of either) in a typical project.

I want to see some decent sax samples for hip hop production (I have komplete 7 so unsure if theres any included in komplete8?)
Also more effect vst's like all of the sugar bytes plugs but with NI's own spin on them. I think then I would upgrade

My wish for the next version would be that it recognises old instances of previous versions and replaces them logically in your preferred DAW.
ie Loading up a Logic doc for example, that has a Kontakt 3 on it, will automatically load up a Kontakt 5 and the appropriate contents..
This would allow you to tidy your plugin folders so as not to require multiple versions of the same plug, not to mention the duplicate sample libraries that are not compatible with each anyway.
Maybe I'm living in dream world, as I've been asking for this type of thing for years.
Regards,
Matt

A bit of advice, please. Given the timing, would I be a total idiot if I went out and bought NI Komplete Ultimate today? It seems like a bit of a kick in the teeth that Komplete (regular) has a promotion right now, but there's no corresponding promotion or discount for Ultimate. But the addition of Razor, Mouth and Session Strings (not pro) as part of the current promotion isn't quite enough to make me satisfied with Komplete regular only. Also, based on rumour threads like this, Komplete 9 either is or isn't imminent. I don't really want to pay full price for Ultimate now, then (if I want to upgrade to 9) have to pay a steep upgrade price only a month from now.
But still, I want it, and I want it now. (Monday of a week of vacation, rainy day, perfect time to play with new stuff).
Strong views either way?

There's no guarantee that they will update Komplete, or indeed any firm knowledge about what might be included in such an update. But right now is definitely a bad time to pay full price for Komplete 8 Ultimate if:
a) you take into account NI's usual release patterns
b) you're the type of person who will be irritated if a paid update appears within a month or two of your purchase

I could see that now that Maschine 2 has Massive for free, and it's a massive seller for NI especially with the Dubstepperz

I was thinking that it would mean Massive 2 *wouldn't* be in Komplete 9, as I can't see NI having two different versions of a synth available at once, but it could go either way. I'm wanting FM9 anyway... about time it had macro control and better modulation routing options!

Actually, reading it back, it says "a free version of Massive", so perhaps it'll be a cut down version.
Anyway, in response to the OP, I'd wait a couple of months, as Komplete 9 is likely around the corner. If when it arrives, there's nothing much in there that justifies getting that over Komplete 8U, you'll probably be able to pick up K8U for a bit cheaper than you would right now.
I'm still on Komplete 6 - Komplete 7 only had sound packs that I didn't need, and I've since bought Razor and Skanner XT, both on offer. I want to upgrade to 8 for Kontakt 5, but am holding out to see what Komplete 9 brings.

Ah, in the text it says it's the full version too. So yeah, good deal for those who don't already own!
Definitely leads me to think that Massive 2 will be held back for a while, although I don't doubt that they're working on it. Sounds a good marketing strategy actually - release Komplete 9 with new soundpacks and Reaktor ensembles (and hopefully updates to FM8 and Battery), and release Massive 2 sometime later on to get the sales from that too...

I'm sure there will be some great updates coming with Komplete9.
I person I spoke to last week from NI confirmed the new Softube/NI Premium Tube series will be part of K9,I'm not sure which version if it will be included in.
I was telling him,I wish someone like NI would develop a good funk/pop horn VI because most if not all of them suck!
He said as a matter of fact there will be a new VI,Horn & Horn Section in K9 that he was really excited about & he said it will be pretty amazing!
I'm sure they also have a few other worthwhile products thrown in to induce Komplete users to upgrade.
As a K8U user I'm looking forward to K9U,if they add these & 1 or 2 others & update,Massive,Reaktor&Battery, I for 1 will be happy to upgrade as soon as I find a good deal. ;-)

I tend to bounce any Kontakt material even in production stage ....i wanted to buy some new banks (Alicai keyz , Duke ect ...) but i'm tired of haveing K2/K3 K4 ect .... and mess with it ...
i think next time i will mess with the registry in sonar and allocate the Plugin ID to the new one !

I just brought this up in another thread, but for what it's worth, Native Instruments just updated the box art of Komplete 8, including giving it a new logo. (Also, it's still Komplete 8...)

Very interesting development, those new logo's and box arts!!
It's also cool to see that a lot of the requests in this thread are being dealt with!
Vintage Compressors and Transient Designer now going native, I think Solid Mix series might be next.
Also, the introduction of Session Horns.
Might we see something kompletely new in early 2013, maybe?

Bump because of interesting development!
Anyone else got the Thanksgiving offer mail from NI?
At first I thought they'd put up a couple of 50% off offers, but it seems that NEARLY ALL of Komplete 8-included products are now 50% off. Do they do this every year, or is this a sign that Komplete 9 is coming soon?

As I recall, they have a 50% off sale at least once a year!
The updated logo makes me think that it's not going to be for a few months yet, - if it was just around the corner, they'd have held back the new logo for the new box.
