Importance of graphics card on a laptop???

I'm in the market for a laptop for music production. I have a desktop that is my main cpu for production but I need the laptop as a secondary option when I'm mobile. Since it's not my main cpu I'm trying to stay under a certain budget.

The dilemma I'm running into is that it looks like I will have to make a trade off between either graphics or ram in my price range. Anything that supports more than 8gb of ram in my price range has integrated graphics, on the other hand I haven't found anything w/ a discrete graphics card in my price range that doesn't max out at 8gb of ram. I use a lot of soft synths and large sample libraries so I'm thinking going for the option that allows more ram would be most beneficial, but I've read some mixed things about having a discrete graphics card. I've read that it's not a big issue for audio production, but I've also read some say they would never buy a laptop w/o a discrete graphics card no matter what the use is (though I don't think these were people who were in the audio field).

I'm curious as to how much importance the graphics card should play when choosing a laptop for audio production. Surely it couldn't possibly outweigh the importance of ram. I figured I'd ask other people in the audio realm since they have more experience doing things similar to what I'm interested in.

I'd appreciate whatever feedback anyone can offer. Thanks.

Music/audio/video programs dont need intense 3d graphic cards, just games.

Integrated graphics is fine.

Old graphics with shared memory are terrible, they tend to make everything feel slow.
The new AMD chips and Intel chips (HD2000 and up) are doing a good job. However, in case it has both Intel HD graphics as well as an AMD/Ati chip (faster), you might run into trouble. No fix yet.
