Saffire PRO 24 problem with macbook pro

Hello, i used my Saffire Pro 24 without any issues with my Macbook Pro 5,3, 10.6.8, with the 1.5 Saffire Mixcontrol version.
Now i had to switch to a Macbook Pro 4.1, 10.6.8 and i installed the Saffire 3.0 version. Now I can't use the Saffire with the Mac output: on the system preferences there is written that the "audio device doesn't have output controls". So i can't really use my Macbook pro with the Saffire 24. Using a microphon, on the Saffire mixcontrol i can see that the sound is coming in, but the only way to listen to it is bypasing the Mac with the PFL button.
I guessed that it's a driver issue, but:
I tried to uninstall the 3.01 driver in order to install the 2.43 version, but even after following the "how to remove Saffire mixcontrol" article http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/...ite Answerbase i can't install the 2.43 version because it says to me that there is already a newer version that is already installed.
Looking forward for a help.

Hi Michele,

Contact our support team via the Contact button on the answerbase and we'll be happy to help. You'll need to delete the receipt for Saffire MixControl 3.0 which is usually found in Library/Receipts. Then you'll be able to install the older version.

Could it be a firewire connectivity issue? If you have a newer Mac it likely doesn't have the TI host controller.

We're not aware of any issues with the new MBPs and the Pro 24 DSP. Everything seems to be working well with our latest software/drivers.

Any questions let me know.

I bought one...and

The 1st headphone channel is faulty, only the right channel works, they both work if you push it in and hold it there. How disappointing to pay for overnight shipping and have this happen!

Sounds great on the second output, but what kind of QC is this?

I hope the Mininova is of better quality

Any manufacturer can make a duffer from time to time. Even the odd Ferrari is a lemon (well maybe not but you get the point). You were just unlucky.

Well I got a replacement and it works great, I'm actually surprised how good this unit sounds.

Funny how Focusrite was quick to answer my pre sales question but I didn't hear anything about my issue with the unit on here.
