Samplitude AM|suite - value and alternatives?

I am on Day 22 of the 30 trial of Samplitude Pro X. I like - it does the business, and weasels didn't rip my scalp. I will probably buy. I have been reading nice things about AM|suite, but it is not in Pro X itself, only in Pro X Suite. However, I do not require the other extras of Pro X Suite (Vandal, Independence). So my questions:

1. Is AM|suite effectively worth GBP 350 - the difference I would have to pay?

2. What alternative VSTs do you use and recommend as [a] alternative transient designer (am|pules) and [b] tape simulator (am|track) - to come in under that budget? I mean Samplitude-quality VSTs, not any old VST :-)

Thnx.

All the AMSuite plugs have also been updated to 64-bit, and IMO are well worth the extra cost, since Ammunition alone is worth the price of admission.

I doubt you could get such a full suite of tools from other sources for the money. Plus they are well integrated into the program (for such uses as side-chaining, etc.).

Plus you also get the eFX suite and native plugs that have all been updated for ProX.

Good luck,

G

AM-suite is amazing. As Greg said, ammunition alone is worth the price.

Are you sure you don't need Vandal? It's actually a very nice guitar/bass simulator.

I personally can't tell you if it's worth the price. I think the AM-suite is nice...not sure if it's worth the additional price Magix is charging.

I think they need to stop changing the various "levels" of the program around with each upgrade. It really just screws over the loyal customer base who have stayed current with upgrades and are then either left in a lower tier or asked to pony up big time to keep the same functionality they've always had in the past.

If they offer the OSX version along with PC at no extra cost, I will be surprised and happy. Otherwise, I will start looking for other options.

Samplitude has never had a costumer drop something they used to have! I have been a Sam user since 1998. Once you buy an upgrade, it stays with you. This last version upgrade they made some changes for NEW customers. Those of use who already had the cleaning and restoration suite, AM suite, Vandal, retained these just as Magix and SEKD before them always have. They are a very good company. Not perfect but they really are good.

I have been a Samplitude user since v 5. I would definitely get "Suites", it's worth it.
